Thank you for reading my poetry!
It was the beautiful, sensual, relaxing, and stress-free evening of Friday, July 17, 2017, and I was sitting at the patio table of my old house in Bloomingdale, NJ. Nothing out of the ordinary happened “this night that I write” beyond what my poem describes, yet that was precisely what made it so special because the feeling of plenitude, tranquility, and love that I experienced was so magnificent, that I was not mistaken in thinking that its memory would remain with me forever and that is why, just a few weeks later, in that same summer of 2017, I invoked inspiration. Fortunately, she came to help me write these verses.
FROM MY MEMORIES
It was made to perfection,
this night that I write,
(breezeless),
forgiving the mercury,
on the cooler side,
fireflies like candles,
adorning the sky,
powerful, its energy,
enchanting, its vibe.
Got under the influence,
galore of cheap wine,
(mellow),
relishing the flavors,
deliciously dined,
with you across the table,
dessert in disguise,
talking to me softly,
the things of your past.
Even though my senses,
surrendered to relax,
(fiery),
my mind, still alert,
reached out and realized,
the magic of this moment,
blossoming to inspire,
feelings and emotions,
that sprout from the heart.
And so, I wrote this rhyme,
instead of better prose,
(boldly),
hoping as a poem,
or even as a song,
could tell about the beauty,
of, summer in July,
encrypted in my memory,
of, that Friday night.
